There are 5 BT Retirement
Trustees. In addition to the Chairman there are two company
representatives
and two member representatives. Currently the Trustees are:
Mark
Ashworth - Chairman The
Law Debenture Pension Trust Corporation p.l.c. Appointed
1 May 2002 as Chairman of the Trustees. Law Debenture is a professional
and independent trustee. Being a trustee is its only activity.
Law Debenture acts for more than 200 pension schemes, of all
kinds and sizes. Mark Ashworth acts for Law Debenture as Chairman
of the Trustees. He is a Barrister and Chartered Secretary.
He joined Law Debenture after 12 years with NatWest Group where
he was latterly Head of Group Pensions.
Andrew Kerr
Appointed 23 May 2006. With BT since June 1975, Andy has experience
in most aspects of external field work and is presently an Openreach
employee. Since 1985, he has held a number of Union positions
at local branch and regional levels and in 1991 he became Branch
Secretary. Andy was elected to the CWU National Executive in
1997 before being appointed Chair of the Telecom and Financial
Services Executive in 1999 and CWU National President in 2000.
In 2008 Andy was appointed CWU Deputy General Secretary (Telecoms
& Financial Services). He has also been a Trustee of the
NCU Staff Superannuation Scheme since 2001.
Aveen
McHugh
Appointed 1 September 2002. Aveen is employed as an Assistant
Secretary with Connect, negotiating across the full range of
employment matters in BT and other companies, including pay
and terms and conditions. Previously, Aveen was Connect’s
Head of Research.
Grant MacGregor
Appointed 1 October 2007. Grant joined Syntegra (a BT subsidiary)
in July 2000. He is Head of Reward for BT Design. He has been
a trustee of the Syntegra Limited Flexible Pension Plan since
May 2006. Grant is a Chartered Management Accountant and a Chartered
Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Les
Winnister
Appointed 1 September 2002. Les is Treasurer of the BT Group.
After graduating in physics, Les joined BT along with other
science graduates on a management training programme. Shortly
after that he gained technical telecommunications qualifications.
Les is a Fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers,
having completed the professional examinations in 1990, and
serves as a member of the Association’s Education Committee.
The
Chairman is appointed by BT with the agreement of the BT Trade
Unions. Messrs MacGregor and
Winnister were appointed by BT as company representatives.
Aveen McHugh and Andy Kerr were
nominated by the BT Trade Unions as member representatives.
