Court Case in relation to the BT Pension Scheme Crown Guarantee
The Trustee of the BT Pension Scheme (BTPS) needs to bring court proceedings to clarify the scope and extent of the Crown Guarantee which was established to protect the pensions of BT employees when BT was privatised. This is a technical legal case which will help the Trustee of the Scheme seek clarity on the Crown Guarantee.
The Trustees of BTPS, with the support of BT, have been seeking clarity about the scope and extent of the Crown Guarantee over a period of several years but it has proved difficult to obtain without going to court.
The Crown Guarantee relates exclusively to the BT Pension Scheme and does not cover any other BT pension funds and would only come into effect if BT became insolvent. |
