BTPS response to Ofcom's Openreach proposals
On 26 July Ofcom set out proposals for the establishment of Openreach as a separate company owned by BT plc and the Trustee subsequently submitted a response highlighting the potential pension issues that might arise. A redacted copy of the Trustee submission is available from the link below. Ofcom has again today (29 November) repeated its intention to proceed with its proposals for the governance of Openreach, although it remains open to any voluntary proposals BT may wish to put forward. The Trustee will continue to engage with Ofcom with the aims of safeguarding the interests of members and ensuring that the pension implications for the BTPS are properly addressed.
