Death in retirement

If a member dies after starting to receive benefits then the following benefits may be payable, depending on the Section you are in:

  • a lump sum (if you die within the first five years of retirement); and
  • dependants' pensions.

You can find more details of these benefits under Section A, Section B or Section C as appropriate. (If you joined before 1 April 1986, you will be in Section A and if you joined on or after 1 April 1986, you will be in Section C.)

It is very important that you complete and keep your Expression of Wish Form up-to-date.
