Ill-health retirement

If you cannot carry on working because of serious ill health or disability, you may be able to retire and take your BTPS pension immediately.

You have to satisfy BT’s medical retirement criteria. If you do, then you will receive an immediate ill-health pension and lump sum. These will not be reduced (even though they are being paid early). In addition, you will receive an enhancement to your Pensionable Service.
